Canadian Bacon:

An American Musical

An original musical written and directed by Garrett Buss with original music by Maximilien Hein, Canadian Bacon serves as my capstone project for my Sound Recording Technology degree. After seeing a poster in the music building seeking a composer to collaborate with the Texas State Comedy Association, I reached out and was subsequently hired to compose sixteen original songs during December and January of 2018-2019. The following spring, I assisted with rehearsals, worked with the cast and the musicians on the music, and conducted the world premiere performance in April of 2019. Following the live performance, we began work on a cast album, the majority of which was recorded amidst preparations for my composition recital and final exams. The complete recordings were finished in the fall. Instrumentals and chorus were recorded at Fire Station Studios while lead vocals and dialogue were recorded at my home studio. Mixing and Mastering occurred at my home studio as well. The album was released on February 7, 2020. Canadian Bacon: An American Musical is now available for purchase and performance!
